CoCo and the Butterfields are not your ordinary folk band. Winners of Live and Unsigned 2012 and set to play at Glastonbury this year, their unique blend of “Fip Fok” – an ingenious combination of folk and hip-hop – captivated York students at the Halifax college annual ‘Faxival’ festival. No amount of rainfall could stop the crowd from foot stomping along as CoCo and the gang masterfully reinvented the hip-hop classics. Having previously played alongside renowned artists including King Charles, Bastille, and The Pogues, this band is certainly one to watch. They return to York on Friday 2nd May, where they will be playing at The Duchess live music venue. The fun kicks off at 7.30pm. If you’re looking for something fresh, fun, and a little bit unusual, you’d be silly to miss out.
