Start spreading the news, I’m leavin’ today!

My beautiful brownies, I’m pretty much York university’s answer to Nigella.

Okay so I’m not leaving today but I am leaving tomorrow! Yesterday I finished all my packing, did my nails (top priority of course) and baked some peanut butter and marshmallow brownies in an attempt to gain friends. It will definitely work. However whilst baking brownies I had quite a disaster, in an effort to melt chocolate to drizzle on the top of my brownies I burnt all the chocolate and then broke the glass bowl I had the chocolate in! my parents will be thankful I’ve stopped terrorising their kitchen once I’ve gone.

Speaking of parents I slightly exploited their kindness on Thursday when my mum took me on a grocery shopping trip. I bought various delights such as noodles, cereal and bagels. I assume they are the 3 main things I will be living on for the next few weeks, that and gallons of alcohol. I’ve treated myself to a bottle of Absolut Raspberry (other, much cheaper, flavoured vodkas are available) after finishing my last shift at work on Wednesday! But I will be going back to my job at Christmas, despite that I am excited to have a whole Saturday to myself.

As you can see, it's a miracle I'm alive!

Honestly I’m very jealous of the people who get to move in on the 28th, it feels like I’ve been waiting years to get on my way! At the moment I feel as if I won’t miss home that much but I bet I won’t be saying the same at the end of this term. I love to see what the other freshers are posting on the Facebook groups, a lot of have been asking questions about ironing boards and curtains where as I like to play it cool… oh no wait I like to ask a million and one questions to make sure I’m severely over-prepared. My main anxiety is my medication woes, I am a self-confessed hypochondriac so the thought of not being able to get to a doctor for a few weeks has led me to stock pile my medication. I think registering at the health centre is on the top of my to-do list.

Other than all these wonderful activities, I’ve not really been up to much in terms of prep for uni. Although, I have been attempting to release some of my madness by; miming to Beyoncé in the mirror; indulging myself in trashy real life magazines; dancing on my bed to Kate Bush, etc. I’m hoping a week of craziness at home will lead to minimal madness leakage when trying to seem normal to make friends.
It’s the final countdown people!

P.S. feel free to visit me in Halifax, Younger court to get a brownie and have a cuppa.
