Name: Joe Mann and Dave Bullock
Team captained: Goodricke 1sts
How have your team’s performances been in autumn and spring term?
Mixed. We’ve been unlucky with injuries and absentees meaning we haven’t had an opportunity to put out a full strength squad very often which has harmed our league positions. Having said that when we’ve been on form were a good passing side who are difficult to beat, which we’ve showed often on the 3G in particular having only lost one game all year.
What are your team’s strengths and weaknesses?
Weaknesses are we haven’t played together that often so will probably be a few games until we hit top form. Strengths we have a lot of versatility in the squad so we have strength in depth all over the park.
How strong is your cup squad?
This year we are fortunate to have the strongest squad we have had in a few years. Unlike previous tournaments we have strong Uni players to call up such as Dalton Harris, Luke Parker and Stu Dunk meaning we have a little bit more quality to add to our already strong squad.
Who would you call your ‘key player’ and why?
We’re lucky we’re not a team of individuals and are strong all over the park. If we had to pick one it would probably be our fresher Chris Osbourne who makes us tick in midfield.
What are your thoughts on your team’s group draw? Which game are you most looking forward to?
No game will be easy with such short games on the astro, but were reasonably happy with the draw. Personally we’re looking forward to the game against Alcuin 1sts who we haven’t lost to in a while and always give us a good game.
If you could beat any team in the final, who would it be and why?
Vanbrugh 1sts. We’ve been knocked out by them twice in two years so we have unfinished business.
What will you do to celebrate if you win the cup?
Blow my life savings in Ziggy’s.
If you could change one thing about the college cup, what would it be?
Have linesman.
Who is your team ‘BNOC’ and why?
Dalton Harris. Uni 1sts centre forward is bound to get you noticed.
Which team in world football are you most like?
Borussia Dortmund. Outsiders but everyone wants to avoid us.
What are your expectations and ambitions for College Cup 2013?
Our minimum aim would be to reach the semi-finals. From there anything can happen.
Vision says:
Goodricke must be pleased with their draw, having a good record this year against Alcuin 1sts. Halifax 2nds will provide a stern test for sure, but Goodricke will be confident of progression to the final eight. They have a decent side, and while it would be too far to call them one of the top contenders, they are a dangerous team who could cause trouble for some of the favourites. Sensible play should see them progress to the Cup knockouts, and from there anything is possible.
