Team captained: Vanbrugh 1sts
How have your team’s performances been in autumn and spring term?
Solid, only losing 2 matches over the 2 terms.
What are your team’s strengths and weaknesses?
Main strength is experience. 12 out of the 14 in the squad won the cup last year. Weakness, maybe don’t quite have enough star players who can change games.
How strong is your cup squad?
It’s virtually unchanged from the team that won it last year. That has to give us at least a chance.
Who would you call your ‘key player’ and why?
Phil Taylor. Potent in front of goal, can make things happen.
What are your thoughts on your team’s group draw? Which game are you most looking forward to?
Very tough group. Looking forward to Derwent 1sts and Langwith 3rds, for very different reasons.
If you could beat any team in the final, who would it be and why?
I’m just focusing on trying to get to the final.
What will you do to celebrate if you win the cup?
Get the whole team a massage and a slap up meal.
If you could change one thing about the college cup, what would it be?
A better astroturf. Be nice if the 3G was on campus.
Who is your team ‘BNOC’ and why?
As far as Vanbrugh goes it’s obviously Kallum Taylor.
Which team in world football are you most like?
PSG. Play nice football, have one or two quality players that have been around for a while and definitely have the potential to cause an upset.
What are your expectations and ambitions for College Cup 2013?
With a bit of luck along the way I don’t see why we couldn’t make the final, and then anything can happen.
Vision says:
Vanbrugh are strong again this year and have a good opportunity to complete back-to-back victories. The match against Derwent 1sts will be the most eagerly anticipated of the group stages, one fit to grace the final. James 2nds will also provide a potential banana skin, with any slip-ups certain to be costly. There are a number of strong teams in this year’s competition, meaning Vanbrugh will have to bring their A-game to repeat, but there’s no reason to they won’t be thereabouts come the final week.
