Exit poll results have been released by Returning Officer Lewis Bretts which reveal a random sample of the votes in the YUSU elections.
Results suggest that Oliver Hutchings will become the next YUSU president after a tight battle with other candidates. Four rounds of voting are forecast with Hutchings beating Roberto Powell and current president Tim Ngwena in the final round.
The closest contest of the night will be between Welfare candidates Laura Bo and Peter Warner-Medley. The poll places Bo in the lead by just 0.5%.
However, Lewis Bretts said the exit poll results “are in no way definitive, and last year they were not wholly indicative.” Last year Tim Ngwena won on election night after exit polls predicted a comfortable win by rival Tom Langrish.
Bretts pointed out that the results are taken only from the first 24 hours of voting.
YorkVision.co.uk will be running a live blog and regular updates from the elections, starting from 9pm tonight.
