Pendulum have been announced as the closing act for this year’s Live & Loud Freshers event.
The drum and bass act recently decided to call an end to their live shows, but will perform a DJ set with MC Ben Verse to end the evening on the Saturday night of Freshers Week.
YUSU President Kallum Taylor showed his excitement on Facebook, saying: “These boys are a fine finale for any event of this kind.”
“We’re sure that having Pendulum closing Live & Loud 2012 will send our students home well and truly satisfied with their night.”
“Personally, I think their music’s absolutely class too, which helps! Hes East will be bouncing once these lads rock up.”
Initially it was expected that both of the final two acts would be announced today, but only one has been initially publicised for legal reasons.
The announcement almost completes the line-up for the ‘festival-themed’ night on Heslington East, set to be headlined by rapper Professor Green at the close of Freshers week.
Third-year PPE student Daniel Chow told Vision: “I can’t wait to see Pendulum – what a booking!”
On Facebook, Electronic Engineering student Rich Wheelybin commented on Taylor’s post: “You mother flipping legend if pendulum are actually there Kal ;)”.
The final announcement, expected to be a band rather than an individual performer or DJ, will be announced ahead of the event in the coming days.
