  1. Great stuff so far, well done to all the winners! Absolutely gutted about Vish the Fish though

  2. *loses

Enjoying all three papers’ coverage though, really good stuff. Shame I can’t get URY because I know they do brilliantly too, and YSTV on top. Glad we have such great media!

  3. Torris comments very inappropriate from a trustee who by default should have no political input.

If he doesn’t want to work with Kallum then he should resign.

  4. Not very gracious of Zarah, storming out like that. Deserved victory for Kallum. I imagine Nacho’s team will attempt to claim he has over-spent, make a big deal of his ban etc.

PWM please just retire and live a nice life. LEAVE YUSU ALONE.

Love that Carney was a massive troll throughout this campaign, highlighted by him not even bothering to turn up. Certainly ruffled a few feathers. Has balls if nothing else.

    Still no moonbase :(

  5. Zahra didn’t storm out – she left once the people started clearing out.

  6. Zahra was very gracious, she was smiling, thanked everyone and she eventually walked outside and was talking to people outside! She didn’t storm out!

  7. Zahra should have won based on policies. Too many elected to YUSU on the votes of a college or society (Ngwena Fusion, Tim Ellis Goodricke, etc etc). Not to say those weren’t deserving, but people vote so blindly – “Oh, I know that guy, he’s my college chair”., “that guy’s a lad” – that anyone claiming that YUSU elections are anything other than 30% novelty campaigning and 70% popularity is a liar.

Being a JCRC chair is basically being captain of a drinking club, with the added occasional responsibility of providing a quote to Nouse or Vision about how YOU’LL FIGHT FOR YOUR BAR but then not actually being able to do anything about it.

Nothing anyone can do about the popularity question, unfortunately. This is no slight on Kallum (who despite stealing the whole campaign strategy of Rhianna Kinchin clearly ran a good campaign). It’s just that Zahra would have made such a brilliant president (and is clearly destined for great success in the future) that it kind of makes you despair at the whole elections process.

  8. So many patronising pricks at this University it is unbelievable.

Kallum was told that there was no chance Vanbrugh would get a bar refurb. By the time he finished as chair he confirmed a bar refurb to go ahead this summer worth 100k.

He also changed Commercial Services ancient business plans, and got them to reduce drink prices, which they did, and the bars are not only busier, they are also more profitable.

He also secured 10k+ of sponsorship for sport teams, welfare drives etc, as well as a freshers week which was full of events for everyone.

I understand that being a chair does give people exposure before the campaign, but this does not mean you can patronise chairs in general and Kallums achievements, nor the fact he won this through hard graft.

  9. that night, i must have had about 10 stellas and four vks, i was sick
