One rendered herself almost immobile in Freshers’ week, after jumping off a table in Salvation, the other spent her Freshers’ term almost setting fire to the kitchen. Meet your RAG candidates, Erin Cork and Becky Mursell.
Whilst uncontested, these two second year students have (what would be) a competitive campaign plan, encompassing three major aims. First, they wish to involve more people in RAG, “by developing a strong volunteering base to make RAG more accessible.” They also wish to include a wider range of “challenge events” such as ‘Lost’ and Hitches, which always prove popular. Finally they hope to reach out more “at a local level”, saying they want to “publicise the achievements of the students” more to the local community.
Speaking to Vision, Becky and Erin said, “RAG should be something that everyone can be a part of. We’ve been given such a good platform to work from due to the work of the current RAG chairs (Rebecca and Baxter) so we feel we can hit the ground running and be quite ambitious.”
Becky is current Vice-Chair of events for RAG, Erin was last years’ Vanbrugh RAG rep (and helped lead Vanbrugh to jointly win the RAG College Cup) and is also on the RAG Committee. Assuming they overcome the challenge of RON, they will face the difficult challenge of matching or beating what has been a hugely successful year for RAG, including raising over £3000 more than last year during RAG Week.
