Leon Morris
First year PPE student Morris, the Secretary for York Tories, Deputy Comment and Satire Editor for Vision and a debating society member, is keen to get involved with the role of LGBT officer. He states “on the whole, people are becoming more accepting of the LGBT community but there doesn’t seem to be a great deal being done, in terms of welfare, for us at this university.”
If elected he would like increase the number of on-campus LGBT events and sexual health provisions. Morris also aims to raise the number of awareness and equality campaigns, introducing and increasing the involvement of non-LGBT in this. He also intends to see the ongoing marriage equality campaign to its satisfactory conclusion.
The idea of weekly informal consultation meetings outside of committee meetings is something that Morris plans to introduce if elected, enabling complaints and issues to be raised by students.
