Candidate Profiles: Environment and Ethics Officer

Isobel Edwards

Having shared this position for the past year, Environmental Science student Edwards has already made a significant improvement to the University’s various conservational and ethical issues. From introducing the position of a Fairtrade Officer, to working with the grounds keeping team to plant

more flowers and edible plants on campus, Edwards’ positive changes have been felt all around the University.

Her main focus this year has been on lobbying the University to change banks from HSBC to the Co-Operative Bank and the introduction of a compost machine on campus.

As many of the projects she is currently working on are still in the process of completion, Edwards wants another year to see they are carried out properly.

Emma Hughes

Second year Social Policy student Hughes includes winning Best Course Rep last year amongst her finest previous achievements. She believes she can bring the same dedication to the position of Environment and Ethics Officer, particularly in the communication between E & E College Reps and the Community Assembly Committee.

If elected, her goals include bringing more smoking bins to campus, better lighting around the University and ensuring that all research and investment from/going into the University are ethically sound.
