Vanbrugh College have announced Matt Stephenson as their new chair following the latest JCRC election results announcement.

Stephenson, a newcomer to the JCRC, drew 201 votes from the colleges members, beating a tearful Charlie Knox into 2nd place by 23 votes. The vice-chairs are Ben Rodin, who beat Vishnuu Nithiyananthan and Kate Elliott, who comprehensively beat Vyshnan Ranjan. Sophie Easterby-Smith and Daniel Whitmore completethe executive committee after being elected as Secretary and Treasurer Respectively.

The results were announced at Vanbrugh’s ‘A Fairytale of Old York’ event, and saw an almost full JCRC elected. Only one position on the JCRC was not filled, that of Wentworth E Block Chair, which saw a ‘Re-open Nominations’ vote defeat the only candidate.

Stephenson told Vision, “It’s unbelievable, unreal. I can’t wait for the coming year. There’s so much that we can do as a college. I think it’s just going to be an amazing year.”

  1. Voting public decided on someone with no JCR or even sports leadership experience. The voting public will have to deal with the horrendous results.

  2. That’s a pretty big assumption in the knowledge that you clearly don’t know Matt, I’d gain a character reference before casting such predictions if I were you.
