Brian Cantor named 33rd most influential individual in the North

University of York Vice-Chancellor Brian Cantor has been named 33rd most influential man in the North of England by ‘Big Issue in the North’.

The top man at the university surprisingly beat leader of the Labour Party, Ed Milliband, by one place. In their annual list, the magazine, sold by the homeless, elected Cantor within their top 50 men, whilst Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne topped the pile.

Amongst the others that populate the list are boxer Amir Khan, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, and Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson. The only other current York name on the list was Dr John Senatmu, Archbishop of York who placed a respectable 11.

The latest issue of ‘Big Issue in the North’ is available now.

  1. Most York students don’t care what Cantor things or says, why do they think anyone else will? Good call for Dr John Senatmu though.
