The Three Marketeers and Damian have won the York Entrepreneurs Society’s Apprentice competition defeating rival finalists Zenith and Ignite this Saturday after the gruelling week-long contest.
They won a £1,600 cash prize at a ceremony earlier this evening at the Ron Cooke Hub on Hes East.
The York Apprentice is the York entrepreneur society’s flagship event. The week’s daily deadlines boasted tasks which stretched the entrepreneurial flair of each contestant to their limits.
The initial nineteen teams where quickly whittled down to the final three through last week’s four ruthless knock-out rounds. First year music student James Ramm and a competitor from Team Paradigm commented that the early rounds were “very well organised”. Ignite’s Harriet Dott added that the process was “very stressful but very rewarding”. Competitors in the first-round auction competition had managed to blag everything from a four person holiday in Tenerife to a day of paintballing.
The final event required the last three teams to each create a marketing campaign for the Envirovent Air Fountain, an innovative form of air purifier. Over two days they had to make both a television and a radio advert and a pitch to last 20 minutes. Tahir Shetty of Zenith told Vision, “the final was by far the hardest of the competitions.”
The winners said graciously before the outcome that “no matter what happens we all had a great week and things couldn’t have gone better”.
Well done to everyone who took part! Shame there wasn’t a bit more publicity about campus for this, I’d have liked to have followed it as it went on.
Zenith.
Envirovent.
FTFY. Wakey wakey.
