University Challenge Final: As it happened

For the first time in the history of the BBC revival of University Challenge, York are in the competition’s grand final.

Students Andrew Clemo (Captain), Simon Donnelly, Ben Keane and Chris Caudwell will take on Magdelen College, Oxford. Though the prospect of beating Oxford might seem daunting, in 2006 the University of Manchester succeeded against Trinity Hall, Cambridge and in 2001, Imperial College London beat St John’s College, Oxford to claim the title. York’s presence in the final is a step-up from last year’s competition, where they failed to pass the first stage of the show, and scored the lowest in that year’s competition, with only 55 points.

Vision will be liveblogging this evening, with University Challenge set to air at 8pm tonight on BBC2. The final was filmed in June, but the result has been a tightly guarded secret. Who do you think will win? Let us know!

  1. Been screaming expletives at the television so ordered to go to my bedroom. At least our lot look fun, Magdalen lot look terribly boring
