The long-awaited statue honouring the University of York’s famous mallard duck will be located by the lake at Derwent College on the University’s Campus West.
The mallard was known for his height at 70cm (27.6 inches) tall and was announced dead by the York SU after being missing for a considerable length of time.
The death of the campus celebrity led to a fundraising campaign to create a statue of the mallard and over £5,000 was raised to install a statue in his memory.
The Student Union said that those who donated to the statue fundraiser would automatically get a reserved seat at the unveiling.
Students can reserve a spot at the unveiling event by booking a free ticket on the York SU website.
Long Boi gained an impressive social media following of over 56,000 Instagram followers.
In a statement on the York SU website, the Student Union said the statue had been “a long time coming.”
City of York Council approved plans for the statue after a report found that: “The location is significant being where the duck resides and was usually found and fed by local residents, staff and students.”
