The newly formed Referee Society underwent its first major test on Sunday as they officiated the college football league’s opening games.

There was very few reports of player dissent from any of the four games taking place and the society was been praised for their immediate impact in raising the quality of college refereeing. Halifax captain Mark Lund commended Ref Soc and hailed their performance as ‘very impressive’.

Ref Soc president Andrew Case called the first round of matchs ‘a success’ and added that players ‘seemed to have responded very well to the raised standard and structure of refereeing.’
