Iconic college venues, Vanbrugh Arms (formerly V-Bar) and D-Bar are due to become YUSU-run from September 2018. This comes as part of a larger announcement that includes the Jack Lyons Theatre Bar and the licensed area in Central Hall.
James Durcan, YUSU Prez, expressed his excitement, citing a desire to “work with” the student body to make YUSU’s new venues “even more dynamic spaces that can further enhance students’ lives”. YUSU have promised more jobs for students and a greater investment in the aforementioned venues, making them “market-leading”.
Jane Anness, Head of Hospitality for the University, added that this model is being adopted by many universities around the country, and that the University believe YUSU will “be able to enhance the student experience further” by taking over operation of the venues.
